Up and Away

Today we drove through Alligator Alley (aka the Everglades) to Miami Airport. We had a lovely, few days with Kim, and now we are off to Boise. We’ll spend the night there then drive up to my cousin’s wedding in Lewiston, Idaho. Jedai is definitely putting a lot of miles on this summer! Now it’s time to sit back and enjoy the new headphones!

Beyond Universal

We spent a few extra days in Florida visiting old friends of Channin, hanging out with Kim, and doing lots of paperwork to buy my dad’s car. Jedai read three books on Epic while he waited patiently for us to file all the paperwork!

We went to visit Captiva and Sanibel Islands. We had lunch at the Bubble Room which is a fun and very unusual restaurant with delicious cake. The whole place is decorated with toys, pictures, puppets, figurines, and Christmas decorations from days of yore. If you had it as a child, it’s probably living its best life at the Bubble Room! We headed down the beach to dip a foot on the shelly here of the Gulf Coast. The water was warm, the beach beautiful and bite, and the temperature scorching. We left outperform cameras in the car, so we have no photos!

Today we went to Gatorama to see alligators at a fun and safe distance. We enjoyed watching the gators jump for food, and Jedai got to do his best Steve Irwin by catching a few alligators himself. It was an awesome day. There was a play area, and Jedai met Dillian from Kentucky. They had a blast together for their meaningful, yet short-lived, friendship.

Jedai is ready to grill up some dinner on Dad’s Webster! I hear he makes a mean burger!

Universal Studios

Hi! My name is Jedai, and I am in Florida with Miss Channin. We went to Universal Studios. Some things I liked were Harry Potter rides (Gringotts and Hogwarts), Hogwarts, the fountain show, and Diagonal Alley. I didn’t like super scary rides. My favorite American food is cheeseburger. The scariest rides were Gringotts and Jurassic Park.

Hi, I’m Channin, and we had a blast at Universal Studios. We loved Diagon Alley and how it takes you straight into the world of Harry Potter. We rode the Hogwarts Express and watched as Dementors tried to take over the train. Harry, along with some help from Jedai and his wand, defeated them, and we continued happily to Hogsmeade. We definitely enjoyed the butter beer!

The fountain show was spectacular and mind-blowing! I wasn’t expecting to be so impressed, but when they projected movie clips onto the water mist, I was awed.

Harry Potter World did not disappoint! Jedai bought an interactive wand, and after a day of practice he was able to perform all the magic tricks around the park. We also exchanged Muggle money for Gringotts’ dollars, and enjoyed lunch at the Leaky Caldron.

For being June in Florida, the weather was tolerable and the rain held out. Overall, it was a fun, successful adventure park experience!

This summer Jedai is coming to stay with Ms. Channin. We have lots of adventure planned. Follow us while we visit Harry Potter World at Universal Studies, explore the Oregon trail, hang out with Johnny in Portland, hit the Pacific Ocean for some beach time, survive without Wi-fi for almost a week, and experience a beautiful Northwestern summer.
